Our Veterinarians

Dr. Rhonda Lane

Medical Director, Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Rhonda Lane joined Babcock Hills Veterinary Hospital in 2009. She was born in San Antonio and grew up in Floresville TX where she was around a menagerie of animals including dogs, cats, horses, goats, chickens and a few cows. Her father was a canine police officer for SAPD. This background fostered a love of animals and desire to help them live their best lives. She was a member of the Mighty Tiger band and graduated with honors. She then went to Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State) and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. is Biology and minor in Biochemistry.
She worked through college as a telephone operator/supervisor and veterinary assistant. She went to Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2002. She worked as a Veterinarian in Houston until 2009 when she had her second child and her husband and her decided to move closer to family here in San Antonio. She has worked at Babcock Hills Veterinary Hospital ever since. She loved working with Dr. Sherry Knopp and Dr. Jack Speir until they retired and she became the Medical Director in 2021. She has enjoyed watching the clinic grow and expand to become the premier hospital it is now. When not at work she enjoys spending time with her family including her husband, her daughter Teagan, son Colin and all their many pets including dogs, cats, backyard chickens, and a few reptiles.

Dr. Ashley Stricklin

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Ashley Stricklin joined Babcock Hills Veterinary Hospital in April 2019. She was born and raised in San Antonio where she was an active member of her high school band and F.F.A. She graduated from Tarleton State University in 2008 with a BS in Animal Science and completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. She learned all about the Aggie spirit and traditions from her brother who was a member of the Corps of Cadets and bleeds maroon!
Dr. Stricklin enjoys internal medicine cases and has a strong interest in ultrasonography. She understands that our pets are cherished furry family members and strives to keep them happy and healthy.

In her free time, Dr. Stricklin enjoys spending time with her family which includes her 3 dogs (Sully, Ranger, and Luna) and 2 cats (Charlie and Phoenix). She competes in several dog sports with her dogs and also enjoys being outdoors on the water, hiking, kayaking, and watching football.

Dr. Samantha Martinez

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Samantha Martinez joined Babcock Hills Veterinary Hospital in October 2021. She was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley in south Texas. Dr. Martinez has always been interested in helping animals through zoology and conservation, but when she realized the benefits of medicine, she decided to become a veterinarian. Dr. Martinez attended Texas Tech University and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science in 2014. After that, she went to Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated with honors in 2018.
Dr. Martinez enjoys spending time with her husband and their five cats. Her hobbies also include baking, volleyball, and playing a myriad of video games. She has a particular interest in feline medicine, oncology, and radiology.

Dr. Gail Ramsey

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Gail Ramsey joined Babcock Hills in April 2022. She went to Texas A&M University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science in 2012 and then stayed to complete her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2016. Dr. Ramsey loves providing care for pets and their families and really believes that caring for our pets is a team approach. She enjoys preventative medicine for both cats and dogs, as well as managing allergies and chronic diseases.
In her spare time, Dr. Ramsey enjoys reading, playing in a kickball league, and spending time with her family which includes her Golden Retriever, Nugget, and her cat, Anita. She also enjoys traveling and is a self-proclaimed “foodie”- she loves to cook at home and try new restaurants.

Dr. Tiffany Christensen

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Christensen grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She completed a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a Minor in Chemistry from the University of New Mexico in 2017. Dr. Christensen graduated from the Midwestern University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2025. Her professional interests are small and large animal medicine. Dr. Christensen enjoys spending time with her family, her two cats, Phoenyx and Gryphon and her two dogs, Niko and Kissa. She loves reading and anything cat related.

Dr. Rose Chagolla

MVB

Rose Chagolla was born in California but
grew up in San Antonio, Texas, where she
moved with her family at the age of two. From a
young age, she was passionate about
becoming a veterinarian. She earned her
Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences
from Texas A&M University in 2018
She graduated from the
University College Dublin School of Veterinary
Medicine in Ireland in 2025.
Dr. Chagolla has a strong interest in veterinary
acupuncture and exotic animal medicine.
Growing up in a Spanish-speaking household,
she is fluent in Spanish and is committed to
helping Spanish-speaking clients care for their
pets. Her love for exotic animals was inspired
by her two pet umbrella cockatoos, Bo and
Sasha.

Vanessa Mitchell

Hospital Administrator

Vanessa Mitchell joined the hospital in 2007 as a Kennel Tech and after about a year, transferred to the Client Service Representatives department. Her passion and love to care for animals led her to become a Vet Tech in 2021. When Vicki, our previous Hospital Administrator retired in June 2024, Vanessa was chosen to take the reins. Day-to-day operations, customer service, human resources, accounting, marketing, and OSHA are among the many things Vanessa is responsible for. She is also a member of the Veterinary Hospital Managers Association (VHMA). Vanessa and her husband have two children, Lily and Benjamin, and a spunky little dog named Bucky Barnes. In her free time, she loves to crochet, read, and watch movies with her family.

Veterinary Technicians:

Melinda, Team Lead Her love for animals brought her to our team in 2015 and since then, has loved getting to know our clients and their furry babies. She is currently our vet tech lead and loves watching her team succeed.  She graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. She is a Certified Vet Assistant (CVA) and loves working on your pets during their surgeries and dentals. Melinda is married with a kitty fur-baby of her own Nala, and has two adorable little boys, Aiden and Cooper. Her hobbies include cooking and decorating in her spare time.

Katja started at BHVH in 2020 after moving to San Antonio from College Station, where she earned her degree in Animal Science. She has a special interest in dentistry and internal medicine. When not at work, she enjoys spending time with her fiancé, two children, and their pets. She also enjoys playing video games and watching true crime documentaries.

Kelly started off as a kennel tech, then cross-trained as a Client Service Representative, then finally made her way to becoming a vet tech in Sep. 2020 and has her CVA II certification. She loves working with animals and learning everything she can about veterinary medicine. In her spare time, Kelly likes to read, listen to music, and go on the occasional hike. She loves each and every fur-baby that comes in!

Marlaina began working at BHVH in 2023 as a kennel tech before cross training to the vet tech side. Marlaina is originally from Austin, TX but relocated to San Antonio to be closer to family. Marlaina is a proud mom to a spunky little girl named Stevie and is living her cat lady dream with her two cats, Simon and Cookie Dough. She always knew she wanted to be in the veterinary field, it just took a while to find us, but now she couldn’t be happier. Marlaina is hoping to gain her Veterinary Technician License to further her knowledge and love for the field. Marlaina has a secret talent of remembering every patient name that comes through our doors; she’s our BHVH rolodex. In her free time, Marlaina loves to cycle, go to concerts, read and chillax with her daughter.

Enedelia is from the roots of Nuevo Laredo and raised in SA. She started her vet med career in kennels for 2 years and worked her way up as a vet tech. She now enjoys her days saving lives and cuddling fur babies. In her free time, she spends quality time with her four fur-babies, Zeke, Ghost, Chaps, and Grace. She’s finding peace while enjoying traveling and nature.

Phoenix is a trick of many trades here. Since starting as a vet tech here in 2024, he is also now our go to man for fixing many issues from broken equipment to IT stuff. You can find Phoenix either in rooms helping with appointments or in ICU attending to patients. Phoenix and his girlfriend keep themselves busy with their 5 cats at home and tending to all their needs. Phoenix’s plans include taking over the world, one cat at a time.

Alyssa has been in the veterinary field since 2008. Alyssa is married with two boys and two dogs (Luna and Nova). During her spare time you can find her cheering from the sidelines at one son’s football game or supporting her other son in his troop for boy scouts. She enjoys fine dining with her husband. Alyssa balances work and family along with attending UTSA Alvarez for Business.

Max started working at BHVH as a kennel tech in 2024 and has been constantly growing ever since! From taking care of boarders to administering vaccinations, they deeply enjoy helping animals in every possible way. When they are not working, you can find them volunteering in local community theatre project, on stage and off.

Ashley started her vet med journey by attending Veterinary Technician Institute in Houston, Texas to further her education and officially started her career path in 2018. There she started in the kennels and eventually worked her way up to being the great veterinary technician you get to see today. Ashley came to BHVH in 2025 and has brought her knowledge and bubbly personality along with it. You may see Ashley getting down and dirty, but her nail game never stops and will always look fabulous while working. Ashley spends most of her free time with her boyfriend playing video games and attending to their 2 cats at home.

Alimay came to us in June of 2025 and has loved every minute of it. Alimay got her love for pets from her grandfather who was in vet med. She started by volunteering at shelters until graduating and working in vet med herself. When the day is done here at work, she then goes home to her own crew of 6 pets! In her spare time, Alimay enjoys painting and attending car shows.

Lidia, LVT was born in Chicago, but her life truly took shape in San Antonio, Texas, where she moved with family and a young age. Growing up in a warm, close-knit environment, Lidia developed an early love for dogs and cats. From childhood, she knew she wanted to dedicate her life to caring for them. Lidia graduated from Palo Alto in 2004, marking a very important milestone on her path to becoming a licensed veterinary technician. Over the past 22 years, she has built a fulfilling career earning a reputation for her compassion, skill and dedication to animal care. At home, Lidia shares her life with her boyfriend and their beloved pets Pinky, Chewy, Monkey Face and Le Rue.

Salma earned her certification as a veterinary assistant from Milwaukee Career College in 2021 and went on to spend four rewarding years working at a small clinic before coming over to us. Along the way she couldn’t resist bringing home two rescue cats, Astro and Orion, who keep her on her toes and fill her days with plenty of personality. When she’s not caring for animals, Salma loves going outdoors for a good hike or exploring local coffee shops in search of her next favorite brew.

Lindsay has always had a passion for animals. She began her veterinary career in 2022 and joined BHVH in 2025 in our kennel department. Her goal is to be fully cross trained as a veterinary technician here at our hospital. Lindsay is originally from George West, TX and moved to San Antonio in 2021 to attend college, where she earned a degree in Business Administration. Lindsay has three fur-babies, Ella, Boujee and Saint whom she loves to cuddle with in her spare time.

Shelby started here at BHVH in 2026. Shelby started in shelters back in 2016 where she was a kennel technician. Due to her interest in the medical side of things, she was cross trained as a vet technician. Shelby loves to play Pokémon and cuddle with her pets and her fiancé.

Tori, LVT joined BHVH in February 2026, bringing over a decade of experience in the veterinary field since 2012. She earned her Licensed Veterinary Technician credentials from San Juan College in 2021 and has developed special interest in veterinary ultrasounds, anesthesia and dentistry. Outside of work, Tori enjoys spending quality time with her husband and pets, as well as traveling to concerts and music festivals- combining her love of animals with her passion for live music and adventure.



Client Service Representatives:

Melany joined Babcock Hills in August 2021 but has been in the veterinary field since 2019. She is a proud cat mom of 8 cats: Earl, Belle, Chip, Lumiere, Figaro, No Name, 2 Chainz, and Paul. She enjoys hiking, traveling, taking long road trips, donuts and trying new coffee shops.

Dayanara is the CSR Lead and Office Manager at Babcock Hills, where she is dedicated to creating a welcoming and organized experience for clients and their pets. Originally from Central Florida, she moved to San Antonio in 2020 with her husband. Since working in veterinary medicine, she has added four furry family members—Legend, Lola, Layla, and Leo—(all with her favorite “L” theme). In her free time, she enjoys making polymer clay earrings as a creative outlet. Dayanara is passionate about providing excellent service and supporting both her team and clients each day.

Daniela is originally from the Rio Grande Valley and moved to San Antonio for college where she graduated from UTSA with a degree in Public Administration and Business Administration in 2022. She is a loving mother of two amazing kitty cats—Pearl & Emmy. She has always had a love for animals, especially cats, her entire life and has found a home at Babcock Hills where she can share her love for animals with a great team. In her free time, she likes to read and hang out with her cats.

Dominique has always had a passion for animals and a fascination with vet medicine. Her long-term goal is to one day be a veterinarian specializing in surgery and large animal medicine. Her dream is to give back to the community and offer low cost and accessible care to animals in need. For now, her 3 kitties and 1 senior pup, as well as furthering her education in the veterinary field are her top priority. In her spare time, she loves to snuggle with her fur-babies while watching scary movies, spending time with her big family, and gaming on her P.C.
